GOAL : To facilitate holistic development (spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional and social) of orphaned children.

OBJECTIVES :

  • To provide shelter care for 100 orphaned children under 6 years.
  • To introduce pre-school, pre-primary and primary school education programs.
  • To cater to the nutritional and health care needs of the children.

ACTIVE proposes an innovative and goal oriented project entitled ‘Integrated Child Development’ for all round (spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional and social) development of Children below 6 years. The project, in general, includes shelter, education, nutrition, health-care, games & sports, yoga and meditation to kids under the age of 6 who are otherwise dis-regarded and neglected.

Statement

For several socio-economic, cultural and political reasons, the incidence of destitute and orphaned children in Khammam district has been ever increasing. To whichever category do they belong, such children not only have to toil hard for a day's meal, but also to save themselves from unscrupulous persons ever on the prowl to exploit them. Many give in, while some do not. Those who succumb get food and receive protection, which of course, comes for a price. They have to oblige by allowing themselves to be sexually exploited, doing illegal activities like pick-pocketing or drug-peddling or even begging.

So long as they are physically fit, they can withstand the pressures but this cannot continue for long. Since they do not have a place to keep clothes, take bath and recourse to medical facilities, they often suffer from some form of chronic diseases like tuberculosis, worms’ infestation, dysentery and skin infections. Owing to lack of family care and emotional support, they become aggressive and non-trusting towards adults, suffer from many psychological disorders, as violence and exploitation all around make them angry towards the system. Once they fall ill they have nobody to turn to. They simply languish. Many die uncared and unclaimed, and some suffer nervous breakdown.
